From bear markets to bailouts, punctuated with politicians' platitudes, there is one thing that's certain - the economy is uncertain. All of us may be finding ways to cut back, spend a little less, save a little more, and we here at TiPb, much like a former President, "feel your pain" (bite lower lip here). Taliban in Afghanistan may be a sworn enemy of US forces and everything western yet technology is one western influence they find hard to resist. Its former ambassador to Pakistan Mullah Zaif is an iphone addict. Yes you heard it right and that too while his organization early last year had issued an ultimatum to Afghanistan's four mobile phone operators, to shut down operations at night or face dire consequences. Call it comedy or irony, the threat was issued via cell phone.

Although I own neither device, if I were to pick one up, I'd easily lean toward getting the iPhone, because at least it could pull double duty as my cell phone too. Well, choosing between the iPhone 3G and the second-gen iPod touch just got a little more difficult, because it seems that the latter has a performance edge over the former.

The iPad is too big and lacks communication capabilities, argued the former Apple executive who oversaw the demise of the company's iconic-but-flawed Newton more than a decade ago.
