Apple is advising iPod and iPhone owners to choose natural fibers rather than synthetic materials, install an air humidifier, and avoid touching their PMP, in the hope that it will prevent static electricity shocks. The advice, part of a warning added to the company's support site this week, blames "extremely dry air" for most static build-up, and denies any particular susceptibility of iPods and iPhones to the condition.

The latest update to the Skype iPhone application delivered some minor improvements and fixes, but the biggest update involves a new warning message directed at the owners of jailbroken iPhones. After launching the updated version of Skype (v 1.0.2), you'll see a message that reads "this version of Skype is only supported on unmodified iPhone OS." Why is Skype doing this?

Add Best Buy to the list of retailers running out of iPhone 3Gs to sell. The consumer electronics giant warned its staff last weekend that supplies of Apple's popular handset are running low, and that some stores may run out of iPhones for a few weeks by the end of June, according to a report by Sam Oliver of Apple Insider.
