Words fail me on how much I love this tablet. I will say I'm slightly Google-biased, as I've owned Android phones before they were cool (and since), I use all their services (including Google+. Yes, there are people on there), and Google sent me a FREE Chromebook to beta-test it a year or two ago. So, yeah, I'm a little biased... =) BUT, I've waited to buy a tablet. There's 2 iPads (both 3rd gen) in our house, and I do like them, they're worth the $500. However, it's not fun to just play with it. You need apps. Then, apps aren't really fun unless you get the paid version. Then, a $500 tablet becomes $50 dollars more, just to get some basic apps and games! Plus, it's cumbersome and weighty, so if you're playing a game, you'll be sitting it in your lap within 5 minutes.

Another day, another iPhone rumor-so is this one for real? The current buzz around the blogosphere is that Apple is preparing to offer its iPhone over Verizon's network, therein ending its thus-far-exclusive arrangement with AT&T. Before you immediately believe the hype, allow me to provide a few reasons to think twice.

I travel a lot. And if you're a geek like me, you can't go a full day sans internet access without experiencing some severe withdrawal symptoms. Luckily, my iPhone, with all its WiFi and 3G goodness, has been instrumental in feeding my addiction while on the road. But though Apple's smartphone provides the best mobile browsing experience out there, the small screen and touch controls still don't compare to the pixel real estate and tactile qwerty speed of a laptop. Not to mention such luxuries as Flash compatibility, page caching, and tabbed browsing.

"They wrote this for you," Josh said in IM to me about Devicescape's Easy Wi-Fi for AT&T, an app that directly addresses my complaints about the free Wi-Fi that AT&T now provides to iPhone users at Starbucks and various airports.

I didn't think it was possible, but my mom has surpassed me when it comes to dependence on the iPhone. The thing is, it's not for the reasons you might think.

Apparently these 'Dots Gloves' have been around for awhile… But I just had a note in my inbox alerting me to them, thanks to my post on the iGlove patent that Apple ran awhile back (the gloves look strikingly similar to the patent diagrams!?). That said… I want these gloves!

OK, now that CES and Macworld are behind us, it's time to take a moment to ponder just what was missing. For me, anyway, the biggest letdown was the absence of any word on a higher-capacity iPod Touch.

My buddy Joel Evans from Geek.com and I both waited in line for the original iPhone in 2007, but this year Joel jumped on the new iPhone 3G at launch while I waited 3 weeks. Actually, it was his positive experiences with the iPhone 3G that tipped me over the edge to go get one at my local Apple store.

Oh, snap…? AT&T has responded to Verizon's snarky iPhone 4 ad, in which the "can you hear me now?" guy says yes, now he can hear you, on Verizon's network, with one big yawner of an ad.
