The Peace of God and the Truce of God, as a movement I feel fits in nicely with our discussions, lecture and readings of the week. Simply the movement was an attempt to spread the word to the secular population by means other than violence.
Historical context involved these movements coming during both local war and after times of invasion and war, often to provide a place or move to stability and comfort. I mentioned attempt because the meetings or town hall gathers that were held were often short or numbers. When and if people actually attended, adherence rate was low, and rarely did ideas stick.
Fallowing artifices are a sample of the material i found including a great entry via wiki, and a very interesting virtual/interactive map that I found useful especially in this google maps era we are currently in.
