When students are asked to research the Civil War, this website provides a variety of documents that are interesting and helpful to students.  I enjoyed looking at documents that were personal stories from the war.  I think students will also like reading about the Civil War from multiple perspectives.

On this website you can search different topics about Nebraska history.  I think this would be very helpful for fourth grade students because they study Nebraska.  

This source provides Nebraska specific resources for individuals.  It offers keyword searchable documents and the database of information is being added to regularly.  It is a dynamic resource on Nebraska history.

This site offers links to a number of different vocational assessments (some free and others not free) as well as a more specific understanding of how career clusters are devided and what falls into which category.

I liked this site because you could research different topics.  One thing that I found very interesting was that the day in history changes.  All of the links are related to whatever the main topic is.

This is part of a site developed by the Nebraska Department of Education to help students learn more about careers and prepare them for finding careers that match their interests and strengths. Students can access this at different times - junior high, high school and college to help them develop and modify plans based on the current trends and their career interests. Within this site, students can develop their own e-portfolio and resume as well as look for information on specific careers.

Excellent starting point for Shakespeare research. This site also provides links to sites with images of rare books, manuscripts, photographs and music.

PBS Teachers is a portal that provides preK-12 educational resources that include thousands of lesson plans, teaching activities, on-demand video assets, and interactive games and simulations that correlate to state and national educational. The site allows its user an advanced search option to fine tune their search for specific lessons by grade level, subject, and resource request (i.e.) lesson plans, video, interactive, slideshow. For educators, the site also provides a unique opportunity to subscribe and join different educator discussion forums as well as theme based theme-based widgets containing links to high-quality activity packs, resources, and activities for multiple grade levels.

The ipl2 website not only allows its users to access both national and international newspapers and magazines online, but it also provides its users quick and simple ways to search for materials with the click of a mouse (i.e.) for kids or teens, resources by subject, or special collections created by ipl2. The site permits researchers to search specific categories such as: art and humanities, education, law, government and political science, as well special collections for presidents and literary criticisms. The site offers a unique 24 hour a day help desk, where students and volunteer library and information science professionals provide answers to your questions via email.

This site offers primary sources, lesson plans, digital narratives and a host of other features for the classroom. It would be a great asset to anyone studying the American South.

This site is maintained by George Washington University. It documents the life and career of Eleanor Roosevelt through written and audio works. The site also provides lesson and materials for classroom use. This would be an excellent resource for women studies, human rights, and the era of the Roosevelt administration.

This website provides different audio clips year by year from the 20th century. The clips range from songs popular from a particular year to president's speeches. The site pairs the headlines of the year with audio. This website would be great for a look at history or a comparison of music over the years.

Time For Kids is a great source of information for kids to keep up on current news stories.  They cover the US and around the world.  They feature kid reporters and have a homework helper section.

The National Gallery of Art (NGA) website provide a unique resource page to connect art and other areas of curriculum. The resources finder allows you to search by curriculum, topic, or artist. These searches provide you with student activities, teacher lesson plans, biographies, and the artwork to accompany them. The NGA has a loan program available.

The United States Census Bureau provides population, economic, and geographic resources. This site would benefit students and educators in social studies, mathematics, economics, and geography. Interesting features include comparisons among resources and the U.S./World population clocks. There are various methods of accessing information (by state, region, use of data tools, etc.).

This site provide political cartoon created by Herb Block from the last 70 years. Each political cartoon is accompanied by a description including the date published, materials used, and a description of current events. Political cartoons are a great references source to teaching history, satire, and communications.

The Louisiana Digital Library features digital collections of maps, manuscripts (letters, diaries, etc.), images/photos, video/audio recordings, newspapers and more. Collections can be accessed by topic, institution, media format, geographic focus, and time period. The time period collection includes a great visual time line with prominent historical events featured for easy acquisition. This would be useful for student/educator historical research; jazz music and New Orleans culture as well as state hurricane information. Many collections would be beneficial in establishing of geographic/cultural context for several literature connections.

This site is a collection of songs from early American History, including the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and westward expansion after the war. This would be useful for a unit on any of those eras, especially for a music teacher, however it could be used by a classroom teacher or school librarian as well. I think listening to music from the past really helps students get a better feel for what it was like then. They may be able to picture that time and place in their mind a little clearer while listening to music they would have heard then.

Brain Pop is an amazing website, I enjoy going through each of the different sections checking out the infromation given. I think K-8 would get the most good out of the information and layout given.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence offers primary resources in a variety of subjects. These resources are not limited to history. There are resources for arts, heath, language arts, math, and science.
