Interesting research with both librarians and teens. Be sure 3and see: "3.8 The value of books which deal with difficult issues A book such as A Child Called It could, in the words of one teenager, "open your eyes to the world a bit more". They felt it was important that teenagers, and younger children, learnt about difficult issues: If you don't read books about these sorts of things then you might not be aware what could happen. "

Process drama engages participants in imaginative, yet tangible, experiences that bring children closer to the characters in the book. The students face the situations as the characters do; with little to no sense of what the outcome will be. Using role-play to investigate the story from the characters' perspectives encourages students to experience the story emotionally and intellectually, making it more personal and immediate.
