During the course of this school year, my Instructional Tech Team and
I have been working on developing a site where teachers can download
Google Walks, much like those on Jerome's Google Lit Trips site
(BRILLIANT!!) - only geared towards Math and Science.
Our site is in it's infancy, and there are still some step by step
guides to be uploaded tomorrow, but we'd love to have you check out
the resources we've posted and tell us what you think: http://GoogleEarthWalks.com
Hopefully we're not replicating something that you've seen elsewhere -
(we've looked!) but if we are - please let us know!
If you see any changes that need to be made, or have ideas, be sure to
share those as well. We'd love to hear from you!
Teachers and students in our district are eating these Google Earth
Walks up - we've been really overwhelmed by the response. We plan to
continue to add resources to the site in order to address all Math and
Science objectives but that will take some time to flesh out. In
time we hope to build a resource that benefits us all! We're excited
to invite students to begin creating walks, as we feel this will
engage them in a great deal of problem solving and higher level
thinking. We would also love to invite you to submit resources as
well!
JUMP Math is a philosophy and a set of materials and methods that aim to improve the teaching of mathematics and to help students enjoy and meet their potential in the subject.
The JUMP Math program is based on the belief that all children in the regular school system, even those diagnosed as having serious learning disabilities or who are failing at math, can excel at math. Mathematics, rather than being the most difficult subject, is a subject in which children can most easily succeed - even at a young age - and can thereby develop the confidence and cognitive abilities they need to do well in other subjects.
starting additions and subtraction, stage 1 and 2 allows students to add or subtract 1 at a time. Great practice to learn how to count and master number ordering.
The 100's Board app is exactly that! A digital 100's board that can show and hide all of the numbers to 100. Numbers can be pressed to change from black to red. All numbers can be hidden or shown at the same time, or in rows / columns of ten. Ten draggable counters are also included for even more fun and games!
Sokikom (so-kee-kom) motivates elementary students in an exciting, safe math social learning game.
Our research-tested approach uniquely connects massively multiplayer online game play with NCTM focal points and Common Core State Standards. The result? Intensely engaged kids. And higher math achievement.
students compete against other students in real time using the Vmath Live math program. Students face off with other students from around the world while practicing their math facts.
