Oxfam international is a confederation of multiple organizations that work together to find solutions to poverty and injustice. They view many of the problems being the result of globalization. The site includes information on their policies, studies, programs and analysis.

Another campaign that was maybe too much like Easterly's "Planner" as its members disbanded last year after increasing awareness and pressuring governments to relieve absolute poverty. The campaign was formed from members of trade unions, charities, religious groups, and many celebrities. In the US the campaign was known as the ONE campaign.

Article that criticizes specifically Bob Geldof, Bono, Tony Blair, and others behind the Group of Eight, but more broadely all westerners who believe that those in Africa need a savior, that its the White Man's Burden, to help those in need, and that we have the right answers and they can't make smart choices for themselves.

Real African dieases with real prevention and control plans

Kiva has a pretty revolutionary idea. People (mainly from the US) loan money to people in third world countires as an investment. The "loaners" get a return on their investment and the people receiving the loan are able to get on their feet. This promotes people helping themselves. Great if applied to healthcare.

This graph does a great job of showing the areas that are suffering from the brain drain. It is broken down by country and by nurse or physician.

Links education with healthcare. Discusses training of healh workers and educating the public.

Foundation started in Africa and works to help the people. Promotes stability and doesn't try to be the hero. Seems to know the interconnectedness of healthcare, education, and income.

There is not miracle drug. Drug resistence limits the amount of drug that can be distributed and what is cost effective.

Effects of global handwashing. Still not sure why this isn't being enforced!

This article shows an example of one solution to end hunger for those living in poverty, but the supplies is not reaching those who need it, so we need to rethink this method!
