Interesting editorial accompanying recent research suggesting fast-paced cartoons impacted children's executive functioning. Notes the competing viewpoint--the digital native generation is adapting to the "ways that will make it well suited to the fast-paced world they will grow to inherit"
I did...my friends and I played games based on those shows, customizing them for ourselves. Sure, we couldn't video it and put it on the web but that's a different question.
A twentysomething in the workforce wants the new BlackBerry, Palm, or iPhone not because the old one is no longer cool, but because the new one does so much more.
Wanting the latest tool because it does cool stuff doesn't make you an innovator. It makes you a consumer of the kind that every company wants. Remember, Steve Jobs is older than I am!
An interesting commentary on what digital natives are doing with technology. It seems a little too optimistic, however, but the possibilities for positive enrichment for kids and teens with technology is compelling.
So this isn't super educational, however it emphasizes the use of technology with children from an early age. We've seen lots of youtube videos of 15 month old babies using iPads and iPhones (my nephew included!) - yet here it is reinforced on a TV commercial.
