As we near the July 29th launch date for Windows 10, I wanted to share some introductory videos that I had the opportunity to create on behalf of Microsoft Education. Most are 2-3 minutes long and explain how some of the new features in Windows 10 (Edge Browser, Virtual Desktops, Universal Apps, etc.) can be applied in the classroom.

These pages present interactive Java applets for teaching and learning single variable calculus. They use graphs and tables to illustrate concepts in calculus and allow the user to dynamically change the functions involved or the point on the graph that is of interest. These pages can be explored by students learning calculus, or used by teachers while teaching calculus, and are geared to the topics covered in AB and BC Advanced Placement Calculus. Each applet comes in a version shown on a web page, suitable for viewing in a browser window, and also as a separate resizeable window with larger fonts and line widths, suitable for projection on a screen. Note that this set of pages is not a complete text for calculus, but is intended to supplement a standard textbook or web site.
This blog has two main themes: one is mathematics and the other is multimedia. The mathematics part will discuss ideas behind mathematical concepts from elementary to undergraduate topics. For now, I will be concentrating on discussing mathematics concepts from Grade 6 through Grade 12, although, from time to time, I might post topics in lower or higher levels.
The multimedia part will discuss the use of different media such as text, graphics, sounds, video and animation in teaching mathematics. I will refer readers to multimedia and Web 2.0 teaching resources that can be used in teaching and learning mathematics, and I will discuss how-to tutorials on the use different software, particularly freewares. Unfortunately, most software that will be discussed in this blog are only limited to Windows platform, although many software nowadays are already cross-platform, so Linux and Mac users are invited to check the tutorials from time to time. Hopefully, I would be able to discuss software with other platforms in the future.

kmlfactbook.org can use either Google Maps or the Google Earth browser plugin to preview the KML files that you create. To switch between the two modes press the 2D Map and 3D Map buttons to the right in the screen.
The Preview in Map button will show the selected data-set in the Google Maps or Earth plugin preview window.
The Download KML file button will download the same file to be saved locally on your disk or opened in the standalone Google Earth application.
