4) Because you are supposed to prepare for and educate the future. How can you do that if you work in the past?
5) Because everything else does
If these five answers won't convince you I regret to say that you are hopelessly living in the past still being a Teacher 1.0. But there is hope!
In an increasingly complex, demanding and competitive 21st century, students need to learn more than the 3R's they are tested on in school. It's time to help them go "above & beyond", by embracing the 4Cs - communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.

The Partnership created a Mile Guide Online Assessment to help educators and administrators gauge their school's effectiveness in integrating 21st century skills into the learning process. The 23 question assessment will help you measure the progress of your school or district in defining, teaching and assessing 21st century skills. As a result of the Online Assessment, you can initiate discussions with staff, administrators, technology directors, school board members and community leaders about improving your school's plans for 21st century skills.
What are the characteristics we would expect to see in a successful 21st century educator? Well, we know they are student-centric, holistic, and they're teaching about how to learn as much as teaching about the subject area. We know, too, that they must be 21st century learners as well. But highly effective teachers in today's classrooms are more than this - much more.
