That makes me wonder what kinds of general and specific advice to offer students and other teachers regarding means of maintaining privacy and security when signing up for various services on sundry sites. Perhaps we can collect some other ideas here, and blog, wiki-fy, or otherwise disseminate them once they achieve critical mass.
