I'm still pretty skeptical about Andrea Rossi's 'secret catalyst' - but if this thing were ever to succeed in a properly-conducted test, we might be looking at a serious contender for replacing oil as our primary energy source.
I'm wondering about providing power to the Coronet Consort woodworking machine with a steam engine: here's one using a converted lawnmower engine - what do you think?
Seeing this, I'm inspired to argue for a lightweight geodesic structure to go over the earth oven. I reckon we can make one with pallet timber, and cover it with either tarpaulin or timber shingles (or even wattle and daub). This link shows the initial dome construction: then go here to see the bales and adobe going on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2NvnhLPBVM&feature=related
PS, can anyone show this to Chris? Simon? Keith?
In trying to track down the 'turbo' rocket stove I mentioned (the one with the fan) I came across this: it might be quicker and easier to make, and longer-lastng (especially if we go one step further and mortar the bricks together), than one made from an olive oil tin - and I'm pretty sure we've already got enough adobe mix available.
