Geography: Indonesia, the largest archipelago in the world, is located in Southeast Asia and Oceania. The country comprises 17,508 islands all in all, with 5 (Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Sumatra and New Guinea) being fundamental. The country shares maritime borders with Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia and Australia. The country's location make it a place of numerous volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. Climate: Indonesia has a tropical climate, with two distinct seasons: wet and dry. Mountainous region receive the highest rainfall. Humidity averages to about 80%. The average yearly temperature is 26-30 C (79-86 F) throughout the year. Recommended clothing: Lightweight cotton clothes are recommended throughout the year. Rainwear is essential during the rainy season. Pack warmer clothes if you are planning to travel to upland areas. Social conventions: Handshaking is the normal form of greeting. If invited to the home, a small souvenir from one's homeland is an acceptable gift, and something for their children is always welcome. Do not give money. Remember that a nod of the head means 'no' and a shake means 'yes'! Health: There are many health risks associated with traveling to Indonesia, therefore all the necessary immunizations and vaccinations should be taken ahead. Malaria is a risk everywhere, except the larger cities. The dengue fever is present throughout Indonesia, especially during the rainy season. Mosquito repellents and any other possible protection is advised. Travelers' diarrhea is also a major risk; you should only drink bottled water and avoid uncooked meat, salads and unpeeled fruit. Poor sanitation can increase the risk of cholera, typhoid and other diseases. Health care is of a poor quality and very expensive, therefore travel insurance is strongly recommended. Food & Drink: Indonesian cuisine is formed not only by the local cultures and foreign influences as well. The basis of all Indonesian meals is rice, which are mixed with either fish or meat.

10 of The Best Resataurants in Edinburgh - 1 views

10 of The Best Resataurants in Edinburgh There's no need to settle for generic, touristy restaurants in Edinburgh. Food blogger Jonathan Jones's favourites are an eclectic mix but all have fine food to shout about The Ship on the Shore Many tourists head to Leith to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia but many neglect to stop at The Shore. That's a shame as this area by the water is home to some 10 of the best restaurants Edinburgh's most welcoming and best quality restaurants. The Ship on the Shore focuses on seafood, with the catch of the day joined by a host of regulars, including a mean seafood chowder. If the sight of water isn't enough to perk up the seafarer inside you then surely the nautical maps along the wall will. Try a bowl of steamed Shetland mussels - they'll provide you with an enduring memory of this fine City. Castle Terrace Restaurant This is the sister restaurant to Edinburgh's Michelin-starred The Kitchin. Enjoy a drink in the bar or, even better, wait to be invited down to the chef's table, which overlooks Dominic Jack's kitchen - although seeing the preparation of the beautiful food makes choosing a dish even harder. Perhaps put your faith in the Surprise Tasting Menu (£60), from which the pistachio souffle lingers long in the memory. Inside the dining room patches of purple puncture calming neutral tones - this is a place where whole evenings pass with ease. Ondine Ondine has been a breath of fresh air for Edinburgh's seafood scene. After opening in late 2009, it soon picked up a host of awards for the near-perfect manner in which the locally sourced seafood is prepared. Work your way through the oysters, feast on the sea bream curry or push the boat out and try the roast shellfish platter. Huge glass windows provide views of Edinburgh's old town.

Westhill Consulting, TRAVEL & TOURS, INC. : Introducing Lombok - 1 views

  •
Indonesia is known as one of the world's most tourist destination. Its archipelagic geography gave it an advantage for different spots and abundant supply of natural beauty. Westhill Consulting Travel and Tours has the pleasure of introducing Lombok, Indonesia, one of the prides of the country. Tourism is an important source of income on Lombok. The most developed tourism area of the island is on the west coast of the island and is centered about the township of Senggigi. Lombok is only a few kilometers from the country's capital, Jakarta, Indonesia which made it more accessible to tourist to visit the place. We have reviewed some of the most sought-after adventures in Lombok as follows: 1. The Lombok Chili Pepper Since the word lombok means chili in Bahasa Indonesia, you'd expect the locals to know a thing or two about spicy food. The green and red Lombok chilies are often made into sambal - a fiery condiment - with locally grown naga jolokia peppers, garlic and shrimp paste. Sample it as an accompaniment to local dishes like ayam taliwang (grilled wild chicken) and sayur nangka (jackfruit curry). 2. Hit the Beach Lombok's beaches are second to none and a blessed relief after Bali's busy strips. Head for the island's southwest to really escape the crowds. Surfers love the big waves at Bangko-Bangko (also known as Desert Point); if its long-walled and hollow left-hand breaks sound too taxing, then try the tiny island of Gili Nanggu, 15 minutes by boat from the town of Tawun. 3. Two Wheels Good Public transport on Lombok is unreliable. Many visitors opt to hire a car and driver, which can be obtained at very reasonable rates, but if you're feeling adventurous try renting a motorcycle - available from shops all over the island. At just over 80 km at its widest point, Lombok is easily traversable and its roads are in great condition for Indonesia - the beneficiaries of recent infrastructural investment. The excellent 21-km coastal st
