This guy does a great job at showing the hardware and software side of getting video in front of the church and onto the internet. This might be a good introductory overview to the equipment and software to kick start some ideas in your own church.
This seems to compete directly with Skype's various appliances, MS Lync, etc. Might be a good way for schools and churches to get traditional video conferencing setup.

I have not used livecode.com myself, but this video goes over the simplistic nature of the programming language and how well it works for student learning of programming concepts. Check out the impressive portfolio of real apps online out on the web. It might be great for development of church or school apps too.
