What is the Importance of Market Segmentation in the Ecommerce Business? - 1 views

  •
For a long time, marketing experts have segmented their targeted consumers in order to understand who might likely purchase a product or a service. In order to grow efficiently, developing companies, need to focus on a specific subgroup of customers instead of getting abstracted with a scattered universe of potential customers. And, the latchkey for that is market segmentation. Market segmentation or customer segmentation can be defined as the process of assessing and classifying customer groups to facilitate targeted marketing. In simple words, market segmentation is a process of dividing the large set of the audience into various small groups based on different categories such as lifestyle, demographics, as well as physiographic behavior. Ecommerce businesses of all sizes are subject to market segmentation for better consumer understanding and customer satisfaction.

Photography is a beautiful form of modern art. A static picture says so many words, and opens up imagination beyond boundaries. Light has always been a favorite subject for photographers, be it natural or artificial. Light bulbs have also been photographed many times. The tungsten filament in a bulb, when lights up, gives us light, and the very mechanics of a bulb are fascinating.

The quality of the blur has come to be known as "bokeh". Bokeh in terms of photography referring the area in the photo which are out of focus light to increase beautiful and dramatic image. The origin of the term is from the Japanese word "romaji" (english characters) is spelled "boke" (pronounced bo-keh) and which means "fuzzy". For good Bokeh, ideally points and lines would blur smoothly as they fell out of focus, in the manner, for example, of a smooth Gaussian blurring.

A design process revealed | stopdesign - 1 views

  • I began by studying the content (text) of the existing page, making a model in my head of the document flow and hierarchy. I aggregated the sections of the page into logical groupings and assigned each a priority. I also spent time thinking about the purpose of the project, along with the ideas and concepts Dave Shea was trying to communicate when he created the Garden space and opened it up for other designers to contribute.
  • Showing off advanced CSS trickery is not the goal of this project. Instead, it attempts to demonstrate the beauty and flexibility achievable when designers grasp all the potential of CSS, using it as a tool to create a well-designed aesthetically-pleasing page which remains accessible, well-structured, and efficiently coded.
  • My Garden lists contained groupings of words and thoughts related to gardening, plants and flowers found in a garden, zen-like qualities, beauty and beautiful things, and characteristics of page design. I also created lists of all the elements, IDs, and classes used in Dave’s HTML, some of which made subtle appearances in the final design.
  • ...11 more annotations...
  • Once I exhausted the idea branching, I started drawing thumbnail sketches
  • Once I had a few rough compositions I liked, I began studying typefaces and letterforms.
  • In addition to my affinity for the letterforms, the pronounced medieval style of the headline type created a perfect contrast with the sans-serif modernity of supporting keywords and titles which I set in Helvetica.
  • My next step in the process was to research imagery which could be used as the foundation for background texture, and act as supporting visual content.
  • I tend to keep imagery confined to a particular region of the layout, or reserve it for a specific purpose. In my opinion, the overuse of photography or illustration can quickly create a crowded, chaotic design which just obscures the intention or message of the piece. Contrast is an element of design which I love to work with when creating anything visual. This comes just as much into play with use of imagery in a composition as it does within the image itself. Effectively integrating imagery into a design requires an awareness of balance and tension. Compact areas of motion and activity, countered with spaces for the eye to rest and relax.
  • When designing outside HTML and CSS, I focus on constructing the language and guidelines of the page, determining proportions, widths and heights, gutters and white space, specifying complementing typefaces, choosing relative type size and leading, and the application of color as a means of both obvious and subtle accent.
  • I started writing the CSS for the design at a high-level, focusing on the layout structure, major backgrounds, and large regions of the page.
  • Groups of elements were positioned in correct locations. Then I applied the necessary detail to each element, from the top of the page, down.
  • The addition of a background pattern to the left and right of the primary image was an added benefit of discovering I couldn’t position the header as I originally intended.
  • The vertical alignment wasn’t refined until after each column was already positioned on the page.
  • This unity of thought at the final stage of the process is a strong reason the designer and person responsible for generating the HTML and/or CSS need should be working together as closely as possible, if the two are not already the same person.

Discounts code in e-commerce website - 0 views

  •
The e-commerce owners use this tactic to increase the sales and make the business, a brand. For promoting the e-commerce website and spreading words about it, the first thought that comes in mind is to offer a discount coupon via an e-commerce discount code setup for those who are in the contact list. The discount codes in e-commerce websites always work, but it is not just limited to set up the code for a coupon.

Color Theory For Designers, Part 2: Understanding Concepts And Terminology - Smashing M... - 0 views

  • ChromaChroma refers to the purity of a color. A hue with high chroma has no black, white or gray in it. Adding white, black or gray reduces its chroma. It’s similar to saturation but not quite the same. Chroma can be thought of as the brightness of a color in comparison to white. In design, avoid using hues that have a very similar chroma. Opt instead for hues with chromas that are the same or a few steps away from each other.
  • SaturationSaturation refers to how a hue appears under particular lighting conditions. Think of saturation in terms of weak vs. strong or pale vs. pure hues.In design, colors with similar saturation levels make for more cohesive-looking designs. As with chroma, colors with similar but not identical saturations can have a jarring effect on visitors.
  • using a hue with a high saturation against a background with low saturation can make the former really stand out.
  • ...10 more annotations...
  • ValueValue could also be called “lightness.” It refers to how light or dark a color is. Ligher colors have higher values. For example, orange has a higher value than navy blue or dark purple. Black has the lowest value of any hue, and white the highest. When applying color values to your designs, favor colors with different values, especially ones with high chroma. High contrast values generally result in more aesthetically pleasing designs.
  • This website combines blue hues with two different values. Because the different values have enough contrast, the overall look is visually appealing.
  • Combining colors with similar muted saturation levels creates a soft design, which is emphasized by the watercolor effects.
  • Colors with very high chroma are best used in moderation
  • Cyan has a high chroma and so really stands out against black and white
  • TonesTones are created when gray is added to a hue. Tones are generally duller or softer-looking than pure hues.Tones are sometimes easier to use in designs. Tones with more gray can lend a certain vintage feel to websites. Depending on the hues, they can also add a sophisticated or elegant look.
  • Tones can be intensified by adding gray around them
  • ShadesA shade is created when black is added to a hue, making it darker. The word is often incorrectly used to describe tint or tone, but shade only applies to hues made darker by the addition of black. In design, very dark shades are sometimes used instead of black and can serve as neutrals. Combining shades with tints is best to avoid too dark and heavy a look.
  • TintsA tint is formed when white is added to a hue, lightening it. Very light tints are sometimes called pastels, but any pure hue with white added to it is a tint.Tints are often used to create feminine or lighter designs. Pastel tints are especially used to make designs more feminine. They also work well in vintage designs and are popular on websites targeted at parents of babies and toddlers.
  • While you don’t necessarily have to remember all of these technical terms, you should be familiar with the actual concepts, especially if you want to master part 3 of this series (in which we create our own color schemes). To that end, here’s a cheat sheet to jog your memory:Hue is color (blue, green, red, etc.).Chroma is the purity of a color (a high chroma has no added black, white or gray).Saturation refers to how strong or weak a color is (high saturation being strong).Value refers to how light or dark a color is (light having a high value).Tones are created by adding gray to a color, making it duller than the original.Shades are created by adding black to a color, making it darker than the original.Tints are created by adding white to a color, making it lighter than the original.

This page is both an essay and a tool. It sets out to explore how two, intertwined concepts, often playful but sometimes cheeky, can be encouraged to dance in web pages. Drag the colored boxes along the scale to throw these words anew. For the most part, this text is just a libretto for the performance you are about to play upon it.
