Students are already accustomed to interacting online and supplementing their daily lives with the Web and social media.     This is a great site that I have used for many years. I have used it with elementary (5th grade) students several years However, teachers should know that you need to monitor and teach use of this site. It is essentially a social networking site and the kids will learn to use it as such very quickly. There are adult themed books as well as independent groups where inappropriate discussions take place. I have emailed Shelfari and asked if they plan to make an education version or limited account option for use with students. That being said I think it's a great platform for teaching those essential netiquette skills!
