This site is fantastic. I'm linking directly to the CSS reference page, but really the entire site is useful. It has HTML, Java, PHP, XML - everything! But in particular with this week's challenges, I found the CSS parts to be quite beneficial.

CSS tutorial that seems to be quite comprehensive.

We used W3Schools in ICM512 to learn XHTML. For CSS, they offer how/why use CSS, do-it-yourself tutorials, and mini quizzes. Should be very helpful in this module.

Here is a CSS shorthand guide by Dustin Diaz. Diaz is a User Interface Engineer at Google and has a website focused on Javascript, CSS, and HTML usability.

Wikipedia always seems to come through for me. This page describes "masups" and gives many examples of where they are and how they are used in everyday life.

A CSS beginner tutorial.

Here is a link to the XAMPP program that Professor Halavais recommended in video 3-1, if you want to "test things on your machine as if it were on the server" (Halavais mentions this around the 19:50 mark). The program is free and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and others.

Not sure if this will be useful in Module 1, but I've used this for adding Flash, ActionScript, and Photoshop content. Don't sleep on this site because they offer video tutorials that walk you through each step -- very helpful to "shadow" these instructors. -- A technical resource that provides easy-to-understand tutorials for Flash/ActionScript. Hi every, a little late to join the crowd, but better late than never! I found this site last semester when I was working on my website for 512. While it is a little hard to take in at once, and there are alot of annoying ads, I found the basic meat of the content to be helpful when I was teaching myself HTML.

CSS Beauty is a site that congregates some of the best CSS based web sites available. CSS sites from all around the world are found here for inspiration and knowledge.

I love the simplicity of 37Signals applications. It is based on Ruby On Rails and they have a terrific outlook on Web Application design and running a business.

EchoEcho's Javascript tutorial provides a good start on how to learn javascript. I like how they have specific sections the most common uses of javascript(Browser detection, form validation, animated buttons, cookies, drop down menu, multiple link, frameset script, and popup windows).

A website whose purpose it is to be a one-stop shop for all your html coding needs.

the w3c html validator checks html input to make sure it follows HTML or XHTML standards. it will also help you look for syntax errors.

This is the homepage for the World Wide Web Consortium - it details all of the standards for HTML, CSS, etc etc. Its a great resource for web coding help. Site also contains tutorials for more information.

I cannot stress enough how much this site helped me in my course last semester with css and coding. The best part I found is that the example coding can be used and altered to fit whatever you are doing. That way, you see what it should look like and then add your own stuff to make the code your own with how you want the final product to look. That's probably the best way to learn HTML and CSS. And you can actually collect good examples from around the web, since HTML and CSS are always viewable.

CSS resources and tutorials for web designers and web developers. When creating my horizontal nav bar for challenge 2-f, I found the "Listamatic" sections of this site to be useful.
