My attempt at adding a comment box and connecting to my db on the server.

This is my attempt to help others who are trying to create a task that spits back random images instead of just a random number (the Dice module). I used a screen shot from a w3schools example, and I also used 2 screen shots of my own work to assist others. This saved time in writing the code...

I did this page for my personal web site. If you have seen the first, rough draft so to say of my sight, you will notice I have taken out the links as I am working on the site. But the links to the past projects work fine. If you click on the plus sign, you will see a description of the project, and if you click on the minus sign, the description will hide. I liked this idea because with all the descriptions on the page, the page looked too text heavy. This method allows the user to pick and choose which site they want to know more about, while not being overwhelmed or distracted by other text.

I used my style sheet from a previous quiz to create a from that required a first name and a valid email address. The validation code came from w3schools, while the required field stuffs came from http://javascript.internet.com/. Because the code came from different sources they required a little tweaking, and I felt the need to add my own unique voice to the pop-up warnings.

Here is my variation on the Baseball Cards challenge. There are 3 different images to choose from, and the info displayed after submission (as well as the drop down itself) is generated from a database table. If you'd like to learn more about my friends & family, take a peek!

This is my drop down list that populates based upon the choice in one of the first lists. I originally wanted to do three lists region to city to sport... but I got too frustrated and might tackle that in module 7.... so this is not quite exactly the webprog of choosing between two sports... but the point is still the same. see my comments as to where I got and modeled the code from

This is my rendering of the comment submit section. Everything seems to be submitting correctly, however, i just can't seem to get the database to populate. I reviewed the videos mutiple times with no answer. I thought it may be the 'localhost' issue, but bluehost.com does not give any of the options that we saw on 'nfs'...after about 7 hours of troubleshooting and every possible configuration... if anyone has ideas i would love to hear them....other than that, the site works flawlessly. Hope you enjoy.

Well, "other than that" is pretty much at the core. I wouldn't have known it was a problem if you hadn't mentioned it (will have to change the assignment). But this is a really core thing to figure out. If you can't actually store the material, then you won't be able to do this sort of exchange when you want to make your own stuff. There's nothing obviously wrong with your code. My guess is that there is something up with your username/pass or table names, but without an "or die" statement, we'll never know...

Seems to be eating the last part of my URL. Is the VARCHAR big enough to hold big urls? Or is it something else? Be nice if the URLs were links (e.g., for the name). Nice, but unnecessary :).

I was trying to add a menu bar to my original recipe program. It's not as pretty as I'd like it, but it works! The links go back to the way the original recipe looked...

I really like a clean menu bar. Most buttons seem dated and clunky to me. Just my .02, of course. There are probably some gorgeous buttons floating around somewhere out there - I just haven't seen them in a while.

This is my quiz, it is a five question quiz on the Televsion show Heroes. If I was at work I would totally take this quiz, considering that I am obsessed with this show. Both pages validate, the quiz page and the results page.

That errant apostrophe makes me want to explode things with my mind ;).

Here is my final project, a way for people to rate their courses and make comments. I outputted the professors' names, when the course was taught and the comments, figuring that was the most relevant information.

My review and map of Rolf's -- a cozy German restaurant in the Gramercy neighborhood of Manhattan. I have a lot of great memories of this place... and hopefully more to come!

I'm always being asked to provide chart information for my business stories in the newspaper, but what if I could do it in CSS and make it pretty? That's what this programming tip provides, and it looks pretty cool, too.

I think CSS charts are one of my favorite thing :). I am sure, someday, they will be superseded by built-in charting tags, but for now, I love 'em.
