The Student PLN Connect - 0 views

  • This appeared on Doug Johnson's Blue Skunk Blog on December 1, 2010.In response to a blog post last week, Shannon Miller, Library Media Specialist in Van Meter, Iowa, sent me a personal e-mail. She has graciously allowed me to use the e-mail as a guest blog post...I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your post Dear Students, Please Lead a Thoughtful Revolution. These few lines are just awesome and so RIGHT ON.....If you want to see this kind of revolution that will use technology to help make your schools more effective and meaningful to you - not just the same old, same old with a few bells and whistles - you will need to be the ones who lead the revolution.Technology alone won't create change. I am less and less convinced that adults will be able to fundamentally change how school is done.I think it will be up to you...

Organization skills - 0 views

  • Self-management skills This skill category breaks down into two separate areas. Organization skills—managing time and tasks effectively, goal-setting, etc. Affective skills—managing state of mind, self-motivation, resilience, mindfulness, etc.
  • Time management is not something we can assume that students will do naturally—as with all ATL skills, it is a specific skill that must be taught and also modelled. If we expect our students to be well organized and punctual, to work methodically throughout the year and to meet all deadlines without last minute panic, then we must model strategies to help them achieve this goal.
  • To model good organization and avoid unnecessary student stress, coordinate assessment dates for assignments, tests and internal assessments with colleagues from all other subjects in the DP.

  • Performance improvement in this area, therefore, comes partly out of time-management strategies themselves and partly out of attitude and perception, both of which can be influenced by affective skill development.

How to Evaluate a Sample Essay On Different Web Sources - 1 views

  •
Different web sources contain different types of content. The science and technology-related websites only have data related to recent scientific discoveries and things relevant to this particular area. In the same way, an academic website offers academic content, e.g., sample essay, assignment and letter. Students who can't work on their essays take help from such sources. But they must be aware that the internet is full of scammers and fraud people. Thus, before taking the service of any online website, they must carefully evaluate the sample writings.
