Google Wave (currently in preview) is a new online collaboration tool created by Google. It provides the opportunity for asynchronous and synchronous communication among users. Waves allow participants to share resources, images, videos, documents, etc in order to discuss, collaborate, etc. It's a wonderful tool and my guess is that it will only become more powerful when it is open to all and a little more polished. Even in it's current state, it's quite robiust.

a real time, live text collaboration tool. You invite others to join you (via email) and whatever they type will show up on the document (in real time) in another color. You can import a document into Type With Me, and edit it there in the space, live. You can save your document, export it, and even play it back (as if it were a movie) using a feature on the site called "timeline". There is also a chat area, so that you can have sidebar conversations with the people sharing your workspace that you might not want to appear in the document.

The complete web whiteboard. Just start skrbl, give out your URL and instantly share online. Use skrbl to collaborate with others or, keep it your own private web space. Write notes, sketch drawings, upload pictures, share files... Everyone sees the same screen, everybody stays on the same page.

Gliffy allows students to draw and share diagrams online. You get all of your basic functionality that you would in an offline diagram application but with a few extra bonuses like working online collaboratively and dynamic publishing of diagrams. Create flow charts, floor plans, technical diagrams, and more.
