This site explains floats to the point of near exhaustion. IT's helpful if you are willing to wade through. I think we are all using floats of some kind. This site should be a benefit to future CSS projects.

This site is exactly what the title suggests; it provides a list and description of a number of useful CSS Hacks. While I don't know that I'll be using this site for the current projects, I believe it will prove helpful for future CSS work beyond this class.

This is a huge compilation of textured backgrounds. The collection is free for anyone to use.

This is an awesome list of tricks that supplies the code and what your text and page will look like after. I plan to use many of the tricks on this page especially number 7 for the layout of my zen garden site.

This is an interesting way to add a fun contact sheet to your webpage. I havent tried the code yet to see if it works but the site provides everything to build your own. I would like to add something like this to my site.

This is an awesome site that breaks down the science of each css tool. It gives a simplified explanation and easy to understand examples of how your code will change the visuals of your page. I will use this for reference in the future.

A designer at evolt.org says that if you are going to use an unusual font (especially one you have to download), make sure you use it in an image instead designating it as standard text in your CSS page. This is huge, since in my Zen Garden page I'm using a font which I was fond of and downloaded - there are probably very few users whose computers actually have this font, but they can still see it if it is in the form of a .gif.

This article by Trenton Moss instructs designers to use 3-d effects for objects. Apparently it's an old trick, but I still think it's cool to move a mouse over an object or image and have it pop out at you. Moss also provides the "Text-Transform" command, which is useful if you forget to capitalize successive h1 lines - it sets a standard for every h1 (every header will therefore begin with a capital letter, even if you forget to be consistent).

I know we should be recommending CSS tips and such, but please check out this short article by Jim Ramsey about flow in web sties. It's very akin to Web ReDesign 2.0 (for those of you who bought the book), which talks about the psychology of users - Kelly Groto and Emily Cotler both speak about the utter importance of a site that affords fluid, easy usability.

For those who are interested in having a photo gallery installed on their portfolio/professional page, please check out cssplay.co.uk. Scroll down and copy the code provided below, and you can have a photo gallery (which consists of an unordered list code) viewable to employers, etc.

You can create RSS Feeds in a stylesheet by using this code. By utilizing this tool, you can have stylesheets, tips, and other sites sent directly through your site instead of searching for them. The author, "Pete Freitag", recommends an XSL stylesheet, but a regular stylesheet will do just fine.

A simple concept that is easy to include in the CSS. Make your text more easily readable by indenting the the first line of text in subsequent paragraphs.

Here is a pretty interesting way to set up your menu. It's busy but unique. There is a lot of flexibity to display a variety of fonts and colors.

This article, written by Alan Pearce for A List Apart magazine talks about how to implement a multi-column layout. I want to use three columns for my Zen CSS page, so I'll be using this trick for sure. I hope it's useful.

This article, on the smashing magazine website, shows some cool tricks for working with transparency in CSS. While I am having all sorts of trouble with my CSS page, I am expecting to use these or similar tricks on my page. I recommend checking it out if you need help with transparency
