"We are developing dynamic Web-based maps, which are a fusion of formal curriculum maps, personal learning records, and community-driven maps. Using established technologies and standards the maps provide 'mash-ups' of information from curriculum databases, ePortfolios and other sources.
The project aims to enhance understanding and navigation of the curriculum and provide a means for students to actively map, contextualise, reflect on, and evidence their learning. The maps will also support collaboration, including sharing, rating and discussion of learning resources linked to specific topics in the maps."
Scenario report on the use of eportfolios and repositories by academics seeking new employment. Talks of distributed resources including repositories and how an eportfolio could aggregate views and evidence of skills for the job.
Site to support this JISC project on implementing eportfolios.
The ePI study is exploring large-scale implementations of e-portfolio use in Higher and Further Education and professional organisations in the UK . It is JISC funded and led by the University of Nottingham. The study seeks to:Identify a range of examples of wide scale e-portfolio implementations within HE/FE institutions and professional bodies that will inform practice/strategy;Gather a range of case studies to support the articulation of models of implementation;Develop an appropriate means of disseminating the outcomes that enables a potential user to understand the implementation issues and identify the cases that are most relevant to their own contexts.
"Despite pockets of good practice across the disciplines, wide-scale adoption of e-portfolios across further and higher education institutions has been less commonly achieved..." <--Oh really? Does that make us feel better?
The Inter/National Coaliton for Electronic Portfolio Research convenes research/practitioners to study the impact of eportfolios on student learning and educational outcomes. Each year ten institutions selected through an application process constitute a three-year cohort. Each campus works on an individual project that asks "What learning is taking place as a function of electronic portfolios?" and "How do we know?"
