Microsoft patent application shows Holodeck-style "immersive display" | Ars Technica - 0 views

  •
"A newly published patent application shows Microsoft potentially planning to take console gaming beyond the barriers of the TV screen by projecting a "peripheral image" around a room, providing a 360-degree view of a virtual scene. Microsoft's patent application for an "immersive display experience" was published by the US Patent Office last week after being filed back in early 2011. It describes a standard video game system with a connected "environmental display" capable of projecting a panoramic image that "appears to surround the user.""

4 Ideas That Will Change Augmented Reality « Augmented Stories - 0 views

"AR is advancing rapidly as a new medium, moving beyond just a technology. One of the things I've dedicated myself to in this field is exploring what AR does best and the opportunities that exist in AR as a medium for storytelling and creating engaging experiences. Each medium has unique characteristics to be harnessed, capabilities that extend beyond other mediums. We're presently in this exciting phase of AR, of identifying, as well as being able to technically influence, what these capacities and criteria are and can become. Just like film, television, radio and photography when first novel, AR presents brand new terrain ripe for creative exploration. With this comes the possibility of forming new conventions and developing a stylistic language of AR."

Microsoft's SmartGlass Is a Game-Changer (and TV-Changer, and Tablet-Changer) - Technol... - 0 views

Gizmodo neatly summarizes all the things SmartGlass is capable of. Second screen? Check. Additional game controller? Check. "Remote control for the Internet"? Check. SmartGlass enables all these features and more. And in doing so, it makes an extremely compelling case for why the Xbox 360 should be the anchor of your living room, and by extension, of your gadget-driven life. Which brings me back to why I want a Windows tablet.

  •
When you think "display of the future," what pops into your head? Is it the hyper-neon displays of Blade Runner or the holograms from Star Wars? The world of digital display always seems to wiggle its way into the bleeding-edge technology of science fiction, but it's not unwarranted.

canon MR augmented reality - 0 views

  •
the new 'MR (mixed reality) system' by canon enables the viewing of full-scale, 3-dimensional CGI in real environments. the full-vision headset donned by users integrates not only video cameras and displays but also a positional and directional sensor that ensure that the virtual image is seen at the proper perspective relative to the viewer. canon refers to the system as 'mixed reality' to contrast it from a simple superimposing of imagery onto the real environment, since the digital imagery is explorable in realistic 3D thanks to these sensors.

Microsoft has positioned the Surface family of touchscreen devices as a fundamental part of interacting with its next-generation operating system.

Demain, des journaux imprimés 100% interactifs? - 0 views

  •
