Resources for Using Comics in Education - 3 views

Why to use comics and tools to use
  •
I just met with a book vendor (Worldbook Encyclopedia) and a few of their off-shoot featured text sets are combining graphic novels with informational text. They are called THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF SCIENCE (Life Science set 1, Plant/Animal Science set 2) BUILDING BLOCKS OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE, and BUILDING BLOCKS OF MATHEMATICS. There are really great visuals, is kid friendly, breaks down skills without "dumbing" them down. Reviews by SLJ, Booklist. If I have the budget...I would like to look into these. Also the '15-16 Worldbook edition comes with embedded QRL codes that can be scanned by smartphones so it can be multi-media combining printed text as well as digital information. Laura W.

StoryWalk® - Kellogg Hubbard Library - 0 views

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children - and adults! - to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden stakes, which are installed along an outdoor path. As you stroll down the trail, you're directed to the next page in the story.
