With little notice or fanfare, our online experience is changing, as the websites we visit are increasingly tailoring themselves to us.Everywhere you turn you find information that seems relevant to you but in fact is nothing but crap.

Learning in most academic institutions relies on the provision of library resources to both support and supplement what is being taught and researched. With the rapidly changing information landscape and the myriad ways in which users can search for information, the challenge of locating, accessing and searching for relevant and appropriate information resources for academic research is ever present.

From ALA: Libraries are in a revolution fueled by rapid advances in technology, and thus the roles, capabilities, and expectations of libraries are changing rapidly. National public policy for libraries must reflect these changes. Today, the American Library Association (ALA) Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) released a discussion draft policy agenda for libraries to guide a proactive policy shift.
