This website offers a lot of great ideas on non-traditional ways for students to write book reports. The projects are more geared towards grades 6-8, and focus on assessing the students basic knowledge of the text. However, more guidelines could be added to make the projects more challenging for older students.

Project Gutenberg is the place where you can download over 33,000 free ebooks to read on your PC, iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone, Android or other portable device.

It has free online texts. I personally use it to search for relevant quotes for papers.

This is a great example of a media project that student's could do on a variety of authors. They could put it together using power point and showing it to the class could be beneficial for all students when reading texts by that particular author.

This site contains a lot of information on just about every aspect of teaching English. All of the various areas broken down, with lesson plan, project and unit ideas on poetry, literature, writing, reading, vocab, grammar, esl, etc.

The National Writing Project investigates more innovative ways to instill creativity in students' writing, one of which is detailed here in this article. A combination of art, writing and tactile sensory is used as students are encouraged to "write what they see."

This is a YouTube video that was a project for a high school public speaking class. It's a good example of how we can use technology to allow our students to use a little creativity and have a little fun with their assignments. Also, many of us may be asked to teach a speech class at the school where we are hired!

This website offers valuable information about the importance of the use of Collaborative Methods within the classroom and the means in which educators can achieve such methods within their classroom.
