Bad Habitat, the hip-hop equivalent of the Three Musketeers, has arrived to save the world from the mundane monotony of modern music! Forming early in the summer of 2008, Dru Manchu, Flawless, and Damian Grey have since stolen hundreds of shows, amassed a loyal fanbase, and garnered all kinds of praise from critics, promoters, and the ever elusive "real heads" who live and breathe their music. With an aggressive style that incorporates real life lyricism mixed with over the top braggadocio and an original flavor of beats (primarily provided in-house by members Flawless and Damian Grey), Bad Habitat has built a brand new sound that shatters the traditional genre confines of what constitutes hip-hop, while still staying true to the foundation of the music's roots. With more than three years experience behind each of them individually, (over a decade in Damian's case) each member brings his own unique polished style to the table, be it the consistent punchlines from Manchu, the quick bursting syllables from Flawless, or just the raw emotion and "been there, done that" attitude from Damian. In their short time as a group, the members of Bad Habitat have opened for an impressive list of mainstream and major independent hip hop artists, as well as a who's who of talented artists from their home region of the Pacific Northwest. With a continually growing following and a live show that has been described as "The best kept secret in Northwest Hip Hop," (Willamette Weekly) Bad Habitat stands poised to carve a lasting niche for itself in an era where most others come and go faster than the trends they emulate and imitate. Bad Habitat of Surreal Music are a Portland based Underground Hip Hop Group. Home grown in the Northwest members of Bad Habitat, Dru Manchu, Flawless and Damian Grey aka Trafek are a talented rap crew making a name for themselves in a competitive industry. Blogger writes..They remind me.. "I've had my eye on The Drop Squad for a few months as they have continued to release amazing free songs over at their bandcamp site. They remind me of some of the best hip-hop from the 90s, flowing lyrics with an amazing backing of beats and effects. The Drop Squad is made up of Madoa and Botti who actually met in 2001 while serving in the U.S. Army. They say in their bio that, "Drop Squad's main goal is to bring quality Hip-Hop to those people who are patiently waiting for the music to return to its essence" Download this song and a bunch of other great tracks on their bandcamp site www.laisthenewny.com , http://thedropsquad.bandcamp.com

Duo Dynamic: Akua Naru - The World Is Listening (produced by JR & PH7) - 0 views

Whoever said hip-hop is dead was egregiously wrong. Hip-Hop is alive and well. It is actually thriving; if you are looking for hip-hop on MTV and Bet and on local radio stations then you are looking in the wrong place. Some of the best music made goes unheard by the masses and it is truly a tragedy. First time ever hearing this emcee but she is truly talented and I am glad I stumbled across her work. It is beautiful. All the world has to do is listen and hip hop is right there. Check out more of her music after the jump.

Duo Dynamic: Random Axe - Chewbacca featuring Roc Marciano - 0 views

Hip-Hop got a real treat when acclaimed producer Black Milk, Boot Camp's bad man Sean Price and Detroit's star Guilty Simpson joined forced to form the collective Random Axe. The album is truly amazing and you won't be let down. Sean Price's and Guilty Simpson's gritty, in your face style of rapping meshes together well on soulful, electronic production provided by Black Milk. A definite must for all hip-hop heads, link to the album after the jump.

One of the hottest spitters in the game, Elzhi, blesses us with hard lyrics over Nas's classic "NY State Of Mind." I been a fan of Elzhi ever since I heard him on Little Brother's Minstrel Show album. If you haven't checked out his debut album The Preface make sure you google it, you won't be disappointed. The rest of us are just going to have to wait in agony until Elmatic drops.
