Crocodoc - 1 views

Collaborative tools: Crocodoc converts Microsoft Office and PDF documents to HTML5 so users can view them right in their web app. I think this would be great for teachers to share their documents with parents. Parents would be able to see exactly what their students are working on and can then use that to give them extra help at home.

This is a site that offers animated videos to help explain science topics for many different levels. Its fun and interactive for any student. Teachers can use this as a tool for students to go on and watch the videos to learn and have fun. I remember using this in high school and thinking even grade school students would be able to understand the information. It can be used for other subjects also, like health and social studies.

BrainPop is extremely useful for all teachers, and I think should be completely utilized. All subjects are present, and students can learn and explore a variety of topics. However, teachers can utilize lesson plans, standards, and create homework assignments on the website. Truly a great site to add to a PLN.

This site is great for students who have any type of disability. It has games that work on skills such as fine motor, language and development. It has activities as well such as (what the website says) the emotions color wheel, which offers children a visual representation of their feelings, along with a facial expression, example sentiment, etymology and definition. I want to be a special education teacher so this site would be a great tool for me to use. Amber Koth

This website would be good for teachers who need help with students with a disability. This website not only gives explanations of different disabilities but also has visual schedules for students. This website helps with social skills, academic skills, and behavior skills. I would use this as a guide and print off anything my students would need to help them.

These games are more simplistic, yet fun. I would use this as a classroom tool to get lower-level elementary-aged students thinking.

This game lets students guess which state to put where on a map. It is a good testing tool to see where students are at in their learning.

Social Networking and Media for Schools - 0 views

This website is like twitter, but instead of having students enter with an email address, they enter with a school code. I think this is a great idea because it can be used to start understanding digital citizenship as they communicate with other students and teachers. I think there could be other uses too- like to keep in touch with students about important information.

Funbrain is another site similar to Cool Math. It has a wide array of games that students can play. These games are in arcade style for the most part, which I think students probably really like. Another cool part of this website is that there is a "For Teachers" section. It has tools that make it easy for teachers to find a game that relates to what they're teaching. It also helps you find activities based on different standards and grade levels. Funbrain also provides flashcards that they allow you to print for free so you can use them in your class.

I love space, so I just HAD to include NASA's website. NASA provides a photo of the day, updates on where different spacecraft is, and more. They also have a TV channel that streams various videos about space. It also has a section for educators and a section for teachers. Under the educational tab, there are tools to help find lesson plans, posters, guides, and more. It provides subject/topic specific videos and other info as well.
