Great example of how to combine writing and culture in an open setting.

Just in time for Creative Commons' 10th birthday celebration of its license suite, the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) announced a 3.5 million dollar grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a new program - Integrated Digital English Acceleration (I-DEA) - that will help adult English language learners improve their language skills while simultaneously providing career and college readiness training through technology-based tools and resources.

"The course was the last eight weeks of the first semester, and the last eight weeks of the spring semester.  It was a good experience, and I'll be continuing next year, especially now because I've done it once (though it is tough teaching for three hours in the evening after being at high school all day!)"

"I would endorse a profoundly different attitude to academic writing, one that recognises its role in the development of responsible academic individuals and communities. I would like academic writing to become more integrated, not outsourced to market forces or bolted on as a response to last-minute deadlines."
