Facebook Pages are becoming a lot more like Twitter in terms of the ways marketers can use them to reach and engage people inside Facebook. Twitter has proven that the "status update subscription + news feed" conversation model works well for a variety of marketers - from large brands to self promoters like bloggers, consultants, and real estate agents.

Actor Ashton Kutcher recently challenged CNN to be the first to 1 million followers on the micro-blogging site, had more than 959,360 Twitter followers as of 1 p.m. ET Thursday. CNN's breaking-news feed had about 12,000 more Twitter fans, with some 968,000. But the real intresting part is the Ashton reaches one million fans on his Facebook fan page while am writing this post Ashton has1,037 ,940 fans on his Facebook fan page.

In a new report, Nielsen reveals that Facebook users spent an extraordinary 13.9 billion minutes on the site - in the month of April alone. Lagging far behind, at 5 billion user minutes, is MySpace, the network launched in 2003, and purchased by News Corp. in 2005. For years, MySpace was the go-to networking site, but it recently lost significant ground to Facebook and Twitter.

There is a new site I'm seeing called Buffer. It lets you find things and put them into your "buffer" - another autotweeting type service. You can use with facebook but beware that often Facebook makes things not typed "live" into facebook have a lower priority and not put them on homestreams.

For now, a marriage between Twitter and Facebook is not meant to be - but the courtship between the two Web 2.0 companies could be rekindled in the future. Interesting discussion around the often trivial concernfrom executives with data privacy (outside of health data). Twitter and Facebook may help improve this situation.
