The GCC power transformers market is expected to grow at a healthy CAGR during the forecast period. Saudi Arabia generated most of the revenue, followed by the United Arab Emirates. In addition to the prominent multinational companies, some local manufacturers have gained technology expertise by re-engineering, joint ventures and technology transfers, and they are moving into higher MVA ranges. Due to investments in various sectors in the GCC, the demand for power transformers has been steadily growing, and this trend is expected to continue.

The cable has the ability to fold multiple times and maintain signal integrity, allowing for higher-density racks and space savings. A major barrier to decreasing the size and stiffness of a round cable is inherent in the construction of traditional cable. This is an issue because a round copper cable can extend up to nine inches when routed behind a cabinet. In conventional, twin axial constructions, the shield is applied by wrapping it spirally around the insulated wire pair. This layer is then overwrapped to provide support and retain the primary shield wrap, increasing the stiffness of the pair. Multiple pairs are then cabled and an overall foil and braided shield are typically applied, thus further increasing the cable bulk and stiffness.

While the long-term outlook is positive thanks to a number of powerful trends in today's society, including urbanization in developing countries, growing requirements for interconnection and the development of electrical infrastructure, and the global expansion of renewable energies, the short‑term outlook is more problematic.We expect growth to remain lackluster in Europe (apart from for certain niche products), and the recovery in the U.S. markets is likely to stay muted. In view of this situation, Nexans now forecasts sales to decrease by around 4% on an organic basis in the third quarter of 2014, and growth to be flat for the year as a whole.
