I've tried a few different codings in the static block to call the image, and I've the put references to the block in different places… the "custom design" tab, the "page content" box, in phtml files, in xml files…

I was wondering how to create a page/category that is formatted like the on on http://www.ilovejeans.com/jeans-finder/… they have a category menu item that leads to a page of designers that you can click through to go to the category.
