Plenty of news articles present similar ideas in a stark black-and-white fashion: optimists live longer; pessimism kills.

It is, therefore, usually not noticed that this answer does not address the question "What is learning for?"

What you have to do to be a success must be addressed only after you have found a reason to be successful.
