Education is key to supporting women in South Sudan - 0 views

  •
The UK cut funding to education in Sudan in 2012. Women's literacy has been linked to health and quality of life, and education is one of the few things that can release Sudanese women from a life of domestic violence and oppression.

While it is saddening that the UK cut its funding, I wonder how many of the Sudanese women were able to attend the classes that they were previously offered. Based off of the article it is evident that the women are extremely oppressed, so it made me wonder if their husbands or whoever has "authority" over them would allow them to get an education.
