  • For one thing you don’t even have to make your own videos. YouTube has tons of great business related  videos that you can embed right in your blog.
  • on a Mac I use ScreenFlow. For Windows users I’ve heard good things about Camtasia.

Facebook Starts Sending Page Admins Weekly Stat Reports - 0 views

  •
Haven't seen an email from any of our pages, but maybe that will be forthcoming...... noticed some good interaction info., too: Interaction Description: Page admins who post engaging, high quality content will have interactive fan bases capable of virally spreading content through the social graph. The following graph shows how fans are interacting with your posts and consuming your material. Interactions: Total number of comments, Wall posts, and likes. Interactions Per Post: Average number of comments, Wall posts, and likes generated by each piece of content you post. Post Quality: Score measuring how engaging your content is to Facebook users. A higher Post Quality indicates material that better engages users. Stream CTR / ETR: This graph is a measure of the Click Through Rate and Engagement Rate for your content appearing in the Facebook News Feed. If a user clicks on one of your posts, that will be counted as Stream CTR. If a user likes or comments on one of your posts, that will be counted in the Stream ETR. Please note that Stream data is based on a sample and therefore is an estimate of your Stream CTR and ETR. (Coming soon) Discussion Posts: The number of Discussion topics users have created on your Page. Reviews: The number of times fans have used the Reviews application to rate your Page. Fan Insight Description: Page admins who post meaningful content will retain fans, while admins who post spammy or low-quality material will lose fans and subscribers. The graph below shows trends in user acquisition and subscription. Total Fans / Unsubscribers: Total number of fans over time, overlaid with the total number of fans who have chosen to hide your posts in their News Feed (unsubscribers). New / Removed Fans: The number of people who have become a new fan of your Page or stopped being a fan of your Page. Top Countries: Growth of your fan base over time broken down by country. Demographics: Growth of your fan base over time broken down by age

Focusing on Analytics and Accountability - eMarketer - 1 views

  • Among those with budgets over $1 million, while 85% said they used analytics, 71% said they had a formalized way of doing so.
  • Marketers focused most on internal resources to measure the success of their programs, with 86% using internal data, 74% relying on internal teams and 52% on internally developed tools.
  • Much of this effort is directed toward justifying marketing programs, but the marketers surveyed often lacked an effective way of communicating the success—or otherwise—of their campaigns to other executives. While three-quarters of marketers begin initiatives with clear goals set out, only 56% have a system for letting company executives know how the campaign fared.
  •
This article raises some good points about being sure to communicate good analytics to the executives. Did we ever follow up with Dwight about discussing the stats from QTR2.

HOW TO: Use Facebook Social Plugins on Your Website - 0 views

  • The Facebook Recommendations plugin gives users personalized suggestions for pages on your site they might like, based on what people are sharing. Otlican displays the Recommendations at the bottom of each article — she’s found that nearly 0.6% of readers click on content in this box. You can even see how this feature will look on your site before you add it — simply enter your website address here, click on the page and it will show you the recommendations Facebook already has for your site.

Ambition: Why Some People Are Most Likely To Succeed - TIME - 1 views

  • "At this point," says Gregg, "I consider myself to be almost maniacally ambitious."
  • Why are some people born with a fire in the belly, while others--like the Shipps--need something to get their pilot light lit? And why do others never get the flame of ambition going? Is there a family anywhere that doesn't have its overachievers and underachievers--its Jimmy Carters and Billy Carters, its Jeb Bushes and Neil Bushes--and find itself wondering how they all could have come splashing out of exactly the same gene pool?

New Facebook: What It Means for Local Marketers - 0 views

  • Though Facebook hasn’t fully implemented Graphrank, the new content algorithm, the update is designed to further help users cut through the clutter. Graphrank favors the posts that users interact with most. Since localized content tends to have higher levels of engagement, content from local marketers could potentially gain priority.
  •
I don't fully understand the Graphrank algorithim, but I'm thinking this is just one more thing that proves how important interaction is - even more than number of followers, etc.

How Facebook's New Features Will Affect Digital Marketers - 0 views

  • For years, the web was about search — that is, people using search engines to find specific things online. Now, the web is shifting toward discovery — users are increasingly letting content find them via social networks. This trend actually started a few years ago with a number of sites seeing social networks drive more referral traffic than search engines. With Facebook’s new features, I think we’ll see this trend turn into a basic tenet of web optimization, as sites will soon be able to learn so much more about their users and offer targeted, shareable content that brings in more referral traffic.

How to Time Your Facebook Posts to Reach the Most Fans - 1 views

  • However, I surveyed 20 posts across five fan pages that had 2 million+ fans, and calculated an average post lifetime of 22 hours, 51 minutes. Theoretically, this implies most fan pages shouldn’t post more than once a day
