I think Google Apps are just the coolest. But Google already employs 23000 people. Can they maintain innovation in a company this size?
  • The program will launch through Google Apps for Education,
  • . Blackboard itself has a cloud-based offering, CourseSites, that was launched this year and is also free, he adds, but it doesn’t compare with its main learning management product, Blackboard Learn.

We need to spend some time exploring innovative tools. Are you all coming to my Innovation workshop?
  •
Jacqui and I are booked for your workshop.
  •
I am also booked for the workshop. They asked for which one. Are you presenting another one?

Quick Look: Computer Programming for Children, Minus Cryptic Syntax | MindShift - 4 views

This is a very nice tool to use for additional exercises to topics on programming. It allows you to choose a language, such as PHP. Each time exercises are completed it monitors and keeps a list of what you have completed. We could use this for students and track their progress. Disadvantage: When you make an error on the exercises the error messages are not very helpful. Does not provide feedback that can "scaffold" the student out of the error. Nice tool and definite one for use next year.

I found this article very informative, it's a pity that the research which was done in 40 different countries all over the world did not include South Africa.
  •
So even if South Africa was not included, what can be learnt? What are the underlying principles? What methods can be useful?

Not quite sure that I agree with the banning of paper-based books. To ban something is quite harsh! I love my kindle, but it sure as hell ain't going to the beach or in the pool with me - a good old fashioned book will still be my choice in those instances. I think that a combination of the two is still preferable. I strongly advocate freedom of choice. Although I understand Prensky's arguements, I cannot agree with them 100%
