BTFA - Book Trailers For All | Bright ideas - 2 views

  • Book trailers are a great way to encourage reluctant readers to want to find out more about a story, and to give confident readers a taste of different genres. Book trailers can be a way to show literature circle groups the novels they can choose from; they can be shown in the library during lunchtimes (if your library has an IWB or tv monitor); they can be a way to encourage students to contribute reviews to review sites, and; book trailers can also be a form of assessment.

Another website sharing book trailers - breaks them in to grade levels and could be a good starting point for students.

OllieBray.com: Automatic Book/Library Sorter - 0 views

  • At the conference I found out a little more about automated libraries. This is basically where you can request a book from the library archives and it is delivered to you in a few minutes by robots. Each book is electronically tagged so it knows where it is meant to be and also it can keep track of if the book has been signed out or not. Rather than being the end of librarians I think that actually systems like this unlock librarians to work more with the customer. Automated libraries are also able to build in social recommendations for when people sign books in and out – just think Amazon, ‘people who have already read this book also liked this book…..’

Book Search works just like web search: Try a search on Google Books or on Google.com. Google will then search and attempt to find content that contains a match for your search terms. You can see everything from a few short excerpts to the entire book,in some cases.

Educational Leadership:Coaching: The New Leadership Skill:The Coach in the Library - 0 views

  • The role of the school librarian has evolved greatly. The days when a librarian checked out books all day are gone. A school librarian worth his or her salt must be involved with enriching the literacy, technology use, and curriculum of a school. That means collaborating to design instruction and assessment and coteaching lessons. Good classroom instruction today needs to embed various literacies—information literacy, digital literacy, and so on—into the curriculum, and these are librarians' areas of expertise.
