Every journey begins with a single step. Notebooks begin with setting them up. I always take a full class day to set up my notebooks. I buy extra composition books to have on hand so that I can provide them (at cost) for students who haven't brought them in - I want everyone setting them up at the same time.
A complete insight to a veteran Social Studies teacher's initial set up to explain how her classroom operates. Please see her additional lenses for her weekly lesson plans. She teachers low-income students who are generally behind when they come to her.
These are Common Core aligned interactive reading journals that the fourth grade students have been working on. Instead of binders, these students were given blank books to take notes in. As I read text aloud, students create their own books.
This page includes all class assignments and notes for a 5th Grade Social Studies interactive notebook. The pictures are from Ms. Mohamed's example notebook. With each page, there is a link for any related maps, images, or outline notes. You can download these documents and print them. You can then follow the matching PowerPoint presentations on the homepage.
Vivid pictures and brief descriptions of what a culture of achievement can actually look like in secondary classrooms. Inspirational, a place to get ideas for your own classroom.
We created this mini-book to help guide your students through the reading of nonfiction texts. This booklet can be used with a nonfiction book or even a chapter in a textbook. This booklet encourages students to make predictions about what they will learn. They also record new vocabulary words and practice finding the main idea and details.
A hub of information if you are wanting to implement a SS interactive notebook in your classroom. Examples of IN's, links to teachers who post ALL of their IN assignments online, presentations to teach your students what an IN is, and more.
