Many language students like to use electronic translators. I teach English and over the years I have watched them grow in popularity. Students love them, there is no doubt about that. Teachers are not so united. Some think they are great, and others hate them. For me, it has taken some time to befriend them, and work out how to take advantage of them in the classroom.
The Government of Quebec has created a series of French exercises at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. There is an entry test and then students access exercises at an appropriate level. The sample I tried included an audio track and questions.
LangChat Resources includes a variety of pages promoting materials and ideas for language educators. This is an offspring of the weekly twitter chat stream for the group.
This site is a visual dictionary (arranged by themes: fruits, clothing, pets, plants, housing, school, etc) - when you scroll over each image, a French voice says the word. A wonderful resource for teachers who are not fully proficient and an opportunity to provide a different French language model for students. Ideal for elementary grades.
