Dr Math is a maths tutoring service to school learners that uses MXit, the South African mobile instant messenger application. Laurie Butgereit of the CSIR Meraka Institute, Pretoria, presented an update to the project at ICeL titled

I have decided to run all my essential teacher toolkit tools as learning pathways /un-workshops online (We are all gatvol of workshops). This just means that I will be featuring a tool at a time in a focused and step by step way, taking everybody through the steps collaboratively and with community support (hopefully). This will all happen online using my learnwithmaggie community as our base, this school 2.0 blog, our SASchools wiki and the featured tools.
The Peer Coaching Programme is designed to develop leaders in ICT to serve as peer coaches for colleagues. As coaches, these teachers will assist their peers in identifying ways to enhance outcomes-based teaching and to offer their learners engaging learning activities supported by ICT integration. In doing so, peer coaches will help their colleagues to develop the necessary skills and teaching and learning strategies needed to integrate ICT into teaching and learning.
Mindset Learn is aimed at high school learners and teachers in Grade 10, 11 and 12. Content is curriculum aligned with a specific focus on Mathematics, Physical Science and English.
"We have just completed our course on writing and now we are waiting for stories suitable for Grade 3 students around Africa to read to be submitted from teachers around the country who have completed the course. WE hope that many of them will get their classes to write as well all in time for the launch of the African Storybook Project website in July.
