Jon Ippolito - if you go to Readings there's a paper called Permanence Through Change. It's a series of papers / lectures given by different interest groups from conservationists to practitioners about whether digital is accelerating at a rate to fast for conservation to keep up. It's a fairly old set of papers and it's interesting to look back on how these various people were attempting to create strategies for conserving work.(everything to DAT!) Ippolito's site is a perennial favourite of mine!

End of Forgetting | FOUND - 1 views

  • “[How should we] live our lives in a world where the Internet records everything and forgets nothing — where every online photo, status update, Twitter post and blog entry by and about us can be stored forever.”

A really nice art installation by FOUND that highlights the problems of putting things online. I find it interresting because - even if we choose to delete someting we put online ourselves someone else might store it e.g. twitter or facebook records

  • Artists are waking up to climate change. But what good can they do – and how green is their work?
  • Contemporary art is an expensive, global business. Artists, curators and the works all end up flying, while galleries themselves require expensive climactic conditions. Indeed, curators in London and Copenhagen admit they have no idea of the carbon cost of their exhibitions.
