This article is great for those interested in SI. It is a randomized control study that looks at kids who received treatment that focused on SI vs. kids who received no SI. The results show that the children with autism who received SI treatment scored better on various standardized assessments in the areas of self care and social interaction.

This webpage provides great tips from various OT's on how to work effectively with the geriatric population. There is also a treatment tip source on the webpage which I think is also really helpful! Sometimes it's nice to see tips from other OT's.

I took this topic using a different approach and thought what articles would be good if I was a supervisor in the future. This article presents multiple qualities that a good supervisor should possess in order to ensure good work ethic and participation from those under you. Although we may not all become rehab managers, we will all have COTAs who will be under us. We need to ensure we are good leaders and have qualities that ensure our COTAs will work hard and feel like they can trust us. I think this article is great for tips to being a great supervisor!

This article shows the various psychosocial aspects of life that may be effected s/p CVA. It's easy to remember to look at the physical effects of strokes as we know that weakness and impairment may occur. However, as OT's we need to remember to look at the psychosocial effects strokes may cause and address various ways to treat these aspects or incorporate them into our interventions. I like this article as a reminder of three particular psychosocial effects that may occur secondary to a stroke.

This blog discusses different ethical dilemmas that may occur in your career as an OT. She discusses a survey that she conducted that looked at various dilemmas that OT's in the geriatric population believe occur most frequently. A few include treating a patient that does not need to be treated, seeing patients past the point of progress, and billing patients for documentation of an intervention that never occurred. This is a great read and great blog for other areas if you are interested!

Although this isn't directly related to OT, it is directed toward our generation. Unfortunately we get thrown under the bus as a group that expects to be handed everything and throws professionalism under the rug. These 20 tips are fantastic to keep in mind as we continue to move forward with our careers. One I find particularly important is number 13- "if you don't know, ask." I think this is sometimes one of the hardest things to remember is that when you are unsure of something it's better to ask than to do something that is unethical or worse hurts a patient!
