Duracell Coppertop Batteries Reviews By Customer

I'm pretty used to buying batteries online and finding they had been made long before I ordered them (had some CR123 with experations the next month from another vendor). In at least my case, my batteries from this vendor show a production date of 3/30/10...and I ordered them on April 18th. You can't get any younger batteries (exp is Mar2016). I'll be checking this distrbutor out for the rest of my battery needs.

Over the past two years I have experienced 3 duracell battery failures. One was a D cell, the other two AA and AAA. This was surprising to me because historically I have never had such problems. The failure was the same in each case, the battery leaked fluid which caused a caustic precipitate to form on the battery connections in the device. In two cases, one with an expensive GPS and the other a flashlight, both devices were ruined beyond repair. In each case the battery was still well within it's useful life range, the device had been kept out of extreme temperatures (I live in the temperate NW), and the device was in perfect shape (and only occasionally lightly to moderately used) before the battery leaked and ruined it. I can't attribute the leaking batteries to a single bad batch of batteries as their expiration dates were all different and they were all purchased from different, popular stores (Amazon and others).I peeled one leaking battery apart to investigate, and it looked like the fluid had leaked out of the seam in the cardboard? tube, right where it connects with the metal end cap.I have exclusively used Duracell batteries for years, but 3 costly failures and I am switching to a different brand. If you have any brand suggestions, please add them to this review's comments.BTW, I am not alone in noticing this problem with Duracell, just google leaking Duracell batteries and you'll see that MANY others have had similar issues. Here is one example:[...]I want to point out one more time, this is not a complaint about this exact battery pack from Amazon (though I did buy it), but rather a complaint about Duracell batteries in general.

Duracell Coppertop alkalines are the best, most dependable, and longest lasting non-rechargeable alkaline batteries I've used. They outlast any other brand I've tried, and buying them in large count packs (like 28-count) from Amazon through their Subscribe & Save program always gets me a better deal than I can find anywhere else. (When I buy things through Amazon's Subscribe & Save program, I typically choose the longest time span between shipments, which is usually 6 months, and I mark a calendar to remind myself when the item is going to ship again. Plus, Amazon sends an email shortly before the next ship date, giving customers a couple of days to postpone or cancel the order if necessary. Then, if I don't need the product, I go into the Manage Your Subscribe & Save Items in the Orders/More Order Actions section of my Amazon account page, and select Skip Next Delivery, or Cancel subscription if I don't anticipate needing a reorder of the item in question.) All the batteries I've bought through Amazon's Subscribe & Save program arrive with long shelf lives (e.g., each AA battery in the 28-count pack I bought from Amazon at the end of August 2011 is stamped with a March 2017 expiration date).

These are the best batteries for your money. I use nothing but these. I have used many others including the other big brand name battery and these last longer in my radios.
