Personal stories aka Primary sources from middle and high school students who have visited various countries or experienced new cultures.

One of my favorite topics to teach is the Women's Suffrage Movement and Alice Paul - I just found out that this museum is right here and full of resources and opportunities for out students to learn about the movement hands-on.

AdLit.org offers resources (articles, research, teaching strategies, book recommendations) for parents and educators of struggling adolescent readers and writers.

I found this resource helpful in teaching students how to look at maps objectively as a document rather than something to be thought of as completely accurate.

I wish I had found this page when I was teaching Economics my first year! It is rich with resources (readings, etc). You are able to choose the grade-level, the type of media, and the standard/topic you wish cover.

Meridian is great - they can arrange for someone to come to your classroom about another country. They can talk about the country's history, politics, and especially culture. This is a lesson I used in order to teach students how perception often determines how maps are made. This activity is especially good for students that struggle with reading/writing since there isn't much involved with the activity.

Considering our focus on economics for this week, I thought it would be prudent to take a look a the budget President Obama has laid out for the United States. The section on education could be used in our classes to discuss the impact it will have students.
