They are also a source of sometimes unexpected ways to support fundraising for scholarships. While he was CEO of Booking.com alumnus Darren Huston (UWCAD 83-85) visited the College and held a lecture. While he was talking about his life and career he was struck by the fact that his audience comprised so many young travelers from around the world and that all UWC alumni travel too - actually, as UWCers they tend to do so quite extensively! So - he thought - how about creating a way for the Alumni to give to the College simply by using Booking.com? The grant is open-ended and variable and depends on the bookings our alumni, students and staff members make through Booking.com: the greater the bookings, the higher the grant! When the grant amount reaches the value of a scholarship it is allocated to a student as a Booking.com Scholarship.

Thus, upon the completion of MBA, he began his banking career as a management trainee in the Bank of America (BoA). With a deep passion for banking, Rana Kapoor's career flourished in 1980 at Bank of America (BoA), as he rose the ranks. His stance of taking intuitive risks, which brought him success every time, was highly commended by his employers. In 1990, he was awarded the coveted Eagle Pin by the chairman of the bank. With such a promising career trajectory, soon he became the head of their wholesale banking business as well as several high stakes assignments in various countries of Asia. However, all that success was not enough for him, as he had bigger dreams, of starting his own venture.
