A reflection on the maker scene as it was in the last 12 months in schools and libraries. Wide-ranging and inspiring.

The School Librarians of Rhode Island (SLRI) found that the image students, and parents in particular, held of Rhode Island public school libraries was behind the times. It was clear that perception needed to evolve along with reality.What they decided to do is explained.

Offers practical advice about what student learning in the future might entail and also considers where libraries may go "Librarians also need to make outside curriculum resources available to end users. These include local subscription services, databases, ebooks, and other online tools. Librarians should continually seek out new tools and apps by keeping up with reviews; the American Association of School Librarians provides an ideal starting point with their annual review and ranking of the best websites and apps for teaching and learning."

Goals that are alpplicable to all school libraries at any time of the year.

All libraary staff want to provide excellent library services for users, to be more integrated into the fabric of our communities, and to impact student engagement and achievement. This article looks at what you can do to improve your online presence to work towards accomplishing this. Recommendation: "Start small, learn from others, and make your online presence a priority. Your students, staff, and community deserve it!"
