Against YA: Adults should be embarrassed to read children's books. - 4 views

  •
This is a very interesting article that appeared last week and has created a lot of comment online. There is quite a backlash against it including an article in the current Listener saying that there is no 'should' in reading for pleasure. I am firmly of the opinion that any reading is GOOD reading and won't apologise for what I read!

This was amazing. He was so right about missing so much because as head is down. It is wonderful to take time to smell the roses, look at the sky at night and see the sunset, or the stars.

Teen author Robert Muchamore banned from London school | Children's books | theguardian... - 6 views

We purchased The Recruit by Robert Muchamore. I read it and thought it was a good book. We purchased more of the Cherub series but now only have two in our Library. They became very violent and too graphic. What do other Primary Librarians do at your school with his books please?

This is an activity which could be adapted to be a bridge between diving in for the full shelving fiction by genre approach and shelving by author.
