The semantic web is an evolving extension of the World Wide Web in which web content can be expressed not only in natural language, but also in a format that can be read and used by software agents, thus permitting them to find, share and integrate information more easily.[1] It derives from W3C director Sir Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the Web as a universal medium for data, information, and knowledge exchange.

Kunsthochschule für Medien - Die Grundidee Schon im Gründungstitel der Kunsthochschule für Medien ist das breite Spannungsfeld enthalten, das Lehre und Forschung dieser Einrichtung trägt: das Interesse an der Kunst im Zeitalter ihrer technischen (Re-)Produzierbarkeit. Künstlerische Phantasie, theoretisches wie historisches Wissen und medientechnische Grundlegung des Ausdrucks - dieses dreifache Reibungsverhältnis produktiv zu gestalten und weiterzuentwickeln, stellt sowohl an die Studierenden als auch an die Lehrenden der Hochschule hohe Ansprüche. Sie arbeiten gemeinsam an der Verwirklichung eines Stücks Utopie: nämlich Prozesse und Sinnbezüge miteinander zu verbinden und zu integrieren, die in der alltäglichen Praxis immer wieder auseinanderzutreiben drohen. Dazu gehört auch die gemeinsame Entwicklung einer medienkulturellen Identität, die sich ihrer sozialen, politischen, ästhetischen und ethischen Eingebundenheiten bewußt ist. Medien sind gesellschaftliche Institutionen.
