The semantic web is an evolving extension of the World Wide Web in which web content can be expressed not only in natural language, but also in a format that can be read and used by software agents, thus permitting them to find, share and integrate information more easily.[1] It derives from W3C director Sir Tim Berners-Lee's vision of the Web as a universal medium for data, information, and knowledge exchange.

Kunsthochschule für Medien - Die Grundidee Schon im Gründungstitel der Kunsthochschule für Medien ist das breite Spannungsfeld enthalten, das Lehre und Forschung dieser Einrichtung trägt: das Interesse an der Kunst im Zeitalter ihrer technischen (Re-)Produzierbarkeit. Künstlerische Phantasie, theoretisches wie historisches Wissen und medientechnische Grundlegung des Ausdrucks - dieses dreifache Reibungsverhältnis produktiv zu gestalten und weiterzuentwickeln, stellt sowohl an die Studierenden als auch an die Lehrenden der Hochschule hohe Ansprüche. Sie arbeiten gemeinsam an der Verwirklichung eines Stücks Utopie: nämlich Prozesse und Sinnbezüge miteinander zu verbinden und zu integrieren, die in der alltäglichen Praxis immer wieder auseinanderzutreiben drohen. Dazu gehört auch die gemeinsame Entwicklung einer medienkulturellen Identität, die sich ihrer sozialen, politischen, ästhetischen und ethischen Eingebundenheiten bewußt ist. The Web Ontology Language (OWL) is a language for defining and instantiating Web ontologies.[1] An OWL ontology may include descriptions of classes, along with their related properties and instances. OWL is designed for use by applications that need to process the content of information instead of just presenting information to humans. It facilitates greater machine interpretability of Web content than that supported by XML, RDF, and RDF Schema (RDF-S) by providing additional vocabulary along with a formal semantics. OWL is based on earlier languages OIL and DAML+OIL, and is now a W3C recommendation.

Spontaneous human combustion (SHC) refers to the belief that the human body sometimes burns without an external source of ignition. There is much speculation and controversy regarding SHC, for it is not a proven natural phenomenon. Many theories and hypotheses have attempted to explain how SHC might occur, but those which rely on current scientific understanding say that instances mistaken for spontaneous combustion actually required a source of ignition. One such hypothesis is the "wick effect", in which the clothing of the victim soaks up melted human fat and acts like the wick of a candle. Another possibility is that the clothing is caused to burn by a discharge of static electricity. The likelihood that truly spontaneous human combustion actually takes place is remote, due to the presence of water and the lack of highly flammable compounds and oxygen in the human body.[1]
